Boxxer Direct Mount Stem
Issue : Mar 2009
Editorial Review
Not only are direct-mount stems typically stronger than traditional clamp-on stems, but they also don't twist and are much lighter. Example: Sunline's direct mount is 53 grams lighter than its clamp-on sibling of the same length?not including the grams you lose by using a shorter steerer. RockShox Boxxers have had direct-mount holes since '05; this year, the mounting option appears on FOX 40s and Manitou Dorados. Currently, one disadvantage of direct mount is a lack of length options, but Sunline says a shorter, 42mm version will be available by June. ?Ron Koch
